When writing my books, I run off coffee, anxiety + overthinking. Like to contribute to my coffee habit? You can purchase me a coffee hereeee!

  SYNOPSIS:

My family was taken away from me.

I was too young to know what went on, but now that I know, it’s time to get it back in blood. Protecting my sister and my niece or nephew is more important than basketball.

Making sure the man who was behind trying to end me is ended, is more important. With mentors like Capone and Cappadonna behind me, I can’t lose.

My head is in the game, I’m focused, and I want revenge. I refused to sit down until someone’s blood was on my hand for taking Joie and our child away from me.

I refuse to lose, and I’m making sure my family is protected by any means necessary.

It was funny how I used to be against the streets, and I still was. However, I was going to marry Capone and into the Delgato family, those views needed to change. I needed to ride for my future husband like I knew he would ride for me. It’s time for me to put all my fears and reservations I had behind me and stand beside Capone.

We were a target. People wanted to bring harm to our front step, and it was time to stand beside my husband and protect our family.

My only rule is that Capone has to always make it home to us.

  HEY THERE…

Book three is finally hereeee! This is the finale to the Capone series. I know, I know, you want me to go to book four and five like I usually do. Capone and Erin’s story ends on a good note, and I’m satisfied with how I ended their story.

Thank you for always rocking with me and trusting my pen. It never goes unnoticed how you guys show up and out for me and my art.

I appreciate every last one of you.

  Xo, Jah!

Disclaimer: There’s a lot of hood shit going on throughout this book. Also, there’s a very short chapter in the book. You’ll know when you see it. It’s meant to be there, and it tickled me a bit.

  Trigger Warning:

There’s a lot of trigger pulling throughout this book.

  ONE

  CAPRI

On the way to brunch Naheim listened to his music at max volume to avoid having a conversation. Neither one of us wanted to go to this brunch and pretend everything was alright. Since Naheim had found out about me and Kincaid, his feelings were hurt. I had made his chest hurt and he couldn’t take it that I could get back at him and the lick hurt that much more.

So, while I complained about the music several times, he continued to listen to it because he didn’t want to have a conversation. Even now, we still hadn’t had a conversation about everything that went on between us. While Tasha stood over me, I thought maybe the music had been too loud and added in with how loud it was in the restaurant, maybe my hearing was messed up.

I know good as hell that this woman did not just say she was pregnant by my husband. Poor Lottie, my old college roommate, and her husband looked from me to Tasha and then to Naheim. They were confused and thought they were attending a simple brunch so we could all catch up, and now I was staring at Tasha as she gleamed at me with this pleasant smile on her face like we were friends.

My hands felt as if I was holding hot coal in the palms of them as my breathing labored. I kept blinking my eyes because this didn’t feel real. Tasha didn’t tell me she was pregnant by my husband. She couldn’t have told me that because she and Naheim never even slept together.

“Capri, are you alright?” Lottie’s hand brought me back to the current situation. Tasha continued to stand there with her hand placed over her stomach.

Lottie was so sweet. She had no idea that it was about to go down. She lived on the West Coast in a very sheltered life with her husband. He owned a software company, and they lived well. She always told me that her degree was for show, she wanted a rich man to take care of her and now she accomplished that goal. The only reason we were here today was because we had been talking about getting our husbands together for a long time.

Well, Lottie did, not me. What would a drug dealer and an owner of software company have in common? When she told me she was coming to New York, I had no choice but to see her. It would look bad on my part if I didn’t make time to see her. Especially since she was the one that made reservations for this restaurant before she even flew here.

Naheim remained quiet and didn’t even look in my direction. He was looking at Scott, Lottie’s husband, and refused to look my way.

  I was a lawyer.

That was a clear indication that he was guilty. If he hadn’t slept with Tasha, he would have been the loudest one at the table. The fact that he was silent told me everything that I needed to know.

“Damn Naheim, you can’t even speak now?”

“Shut the fuck up, Tasha,” he snarled, finally looking over at me with guilt written all over his face.

I could tell he had slept with this bitch and got her pregnant. Naheim didn’t have to convince me of shit.

“I’m sorry you had to find out this way, Capri. Naheim, you really ain’t shit because I would have thought you would have told her. Well, anyway, I am in the process of planning the baby shower, so should I sen—”

“Oh my goodness, Capri!” Lottie shrieked, as I jumped from my seat and sent my fist crashing right into Tasha’s mouth.

She stumbled back into the table across from us, and I continued to punch her, not stopping until I felt someone’s arms around my waist, pulling me back.

“Shit, Tasha… what the fuck?” Ella ran over with her phone in her hand, while trying to help Tasha regain her balance.

The people at the table she was nearly laid across were trying to help her while being horrified at the same time.

“I’ve been way too fucking nice. I chose peace when I could have ended you bitches years ago. You used me to fuck my brother and then you fucked my husband.” I went to lunge again and was pulled back.

The manager of the restaurant came over to assist. Of course, he looked at me like I was the devil, then went to help Tasha who had blood spilling out of her lips. The bitch spoke so much shit and had so much mouth moments before, and now she was over there crying and cradling her stomach.

“She’s pregnant, Capri,” Lottie said, when she came over to where I was now pacing back and forth.

My blood was boiling, and I wanted to continue to punch the shit out of her until she no longer had any breath in her body. I understood exactly what my mother meant when she said that I was my brothers’ sister.

She always told me that I could attend school and choose to be better, but I had my brothers’ blood coursing through my veins. My entire face was hot and all I wanted to do was cause harm to this bitch.

  “Capri—”

“Get the fuck off me!” I screamed and mushed him in the face.

How fucking he date try to talk to me after fucking my friend. Well, ex-friend. He knew how much both Tasha and Ella hurt me, and he decided to add to the hurt. It was bad enough that I had to deal with Ella being part of my family, but then to hear that Tasha fucked my husband and was pregnant by him pushed me over the edge.

When the police parted through the crowd of people surrounding Tasha, I should have known. I should have known that they would arrive quicker than a virgin busting his first nut. I also knew that they were going to arrest me.

The entire restaurant had witnessed me put my hands on this woman, and there was no way I could get out of being arrested today. While I watched them talk to Tasha, I snatched my earrings and all my jewelry off and handed it over to Lottie to put into my purse.

“Come on, we can dip.” Naheim tried to pull me away, and I stood firm.

There was no way they were letting me leave the restaurant after what I had did to a pregnant woman. I wasn’t even like that, and I had snapped. The way she stared down at me, knowing she had my husband.

The anger I had been holding back had finally erupted. Even though I was angry with Naheim, and pissed that he had done this to me, my first thought was to protect him. “Go, now.” I told him.

If I knew my husband, I knew he had his gun on him, and it wasn’t registered. He was a convicted felon, and they would try and make trouble for him. Naheim looked like he wanted to debate with me until I gave him the look and he quickly disappeared within the crowd.

Why was I so stupid? I should have been pushing him into the officer’s arm with the shit I just found out. That was my heart though. If I ever loved you, I would always love you. I also knew Naheim wouldn’t go far, and he would nine times out of ten wait and follow behind the car I was put in.

When the paramedics entered the restaurant, I rolled my eyes so hard. This bitch acted like she was so about it, and now she was over there whimpering while complaining about pain. The officer finally made his way over toward me.

“We took the statement from Ms. Evans, and she let us know what occurred. We also have witness statements that saw the entire incident. We’re going to have to put you under arrest.” He didn’t waste any time asking me my part because it had already been told to him from multiple people.

Naheim had already taken my purse with him. As he read me my rights, I put my arms behind my back and winked at Tasha. It wasn’t over when it came to her, and she broke the rules. She should have pretended nothing happened, but she wanted to get the law involved, and now it was going to be ten times worse for her.

  TWO

  JAIDEN

When I rolled out the bed in the morning, I immediately hit my knees and thanked God for opening my eyes. He had millions of people calling on him daily, and he saw fit to have me open my eyes. Since being shot by Timmy, I didn’t take shit for granted anymore. I thanked God for everything because I could have been dead too.

Joie had her whole life ahead of her and now she was just a body in the ground. My heart hurt every day when I thought about her. It was hard not to think about her because she meant that much to me. People always complained about teenagers using the love word and how we didn’t know what it meant.

I knew what love was because I loved Joie and wanted forever with her. Who knows if we would have lasted? I knew that I wanted to try and last because she was who I wanted forever with. The shit hurt every time I thought about her.

Timmy fucking raped her and then shot her because she told the truth about the shit. I knew something seemed off with Joie after the party. She distanced herself from me, and whenever I was with Timmy she never wanted to be around.

With the way we always used to kick it, I knew something was off and even asked Timmy about it. He blew it off as her wanting me to herself and it seemed plausible at the time. Joie did get on my case whenever I hung out with Timmy and Jerome all the time. She wanted me to spend more time with her.

I just felt sad that she was killed for speaking her truth.

As I walked past the cars in the foyer, I frowned when I saw a new one. It wasn’t odd for Capone to have a brand-new car or have them switched around. He had a guy who came every few weeks to take care of the cars and switch them around on the displays.

To be that rich that you had your cars on display in your house was the real flex. Erin was at the counter with her laptop and in her own thoughts. All she did was research Down syndrome and all things related. I knew she was worried about the baby, and I think we all were. We just wanted a healthy baby, and for Erin to be healthy too.

Capone looked up from his phone and nodded at me. “What up, Kid?”

“Ain’t sh… nothing but the sky.”

  Capone smirked. “Smooth ass nigga.”

Walking was becoming easier by the day. I was still in some pain and required my walker at times, but I was moving around the house better than before we moved in. I still needed to take pain medication at night because the pain was always unbearable at night.

While being in bed was something that everyone looked forward to at the end of a long day, I hated it. I could only lay in one position that was comfortable all night, and even that eventually would become uncomfortable.

“E?” I called to my sister who hadn’t acknowledged me since I walked into the kitchen. She was so lost in her laptop.

“Huh?” she looked up from her computer and she smiled when she saw me. “Morning, Jaiden… how did you sleep?”

“The same as I always do.” I shrugged and spooned some cereal into my mouth.

“Do you think we should make an appointment with your doctor?” She went right into big sis’ mode.

Erin was going to be the perfect mother because she was so caring. I could wince and she would be ready to try to solve my problem within that second. I never appreciated her until I had almost lost my life. Everything she had been preaching to me about, she was right about. She had told me that Timmy was no good and I called her a hater and even talked shit about her.

All she was trying to do was save me from myself and I was too stubborn to realize that. I regretted talking to her the way I did, because I knew that she only wanted what was best for me. I was the one who was being stupid and could have lost my life.

  “I’m good.”

Capone put his phone down. “I wanted to say I’m proud of you with the way you’ve been coming along in your training. Even getting your driving license too. Big Mike told me how much effort you’ve been putting in.”

  “Appreciate it,” I smiled.

Since all I did was stay in the house, when I did get time out to practice shooting, I took full advantage. It was all I had to look forward to these days. Other than playing video games or working out in the gym, I didn’t have much of a life anymore. All my friends were back in Brooklyn, and I didn’t feel like it was right to invite them over to Capone’s house.

Big Mike was the one who trained me and took me out with him. I begged him to let me try driving and against his better judgment, he let me. That was all it took for me to go and get my permit, and then eventually I took my road test and got my license.

It was funny because I used to talk about getting my license so I could drive around and hang with my friends, and now that I had it, I didn’t have shit to do. It was something that filled my time at the moment, so I guess that was the reason that I went ahead and did it in the first place.

Capone walked over and poured him more juice and then looked at Erin. When he looked at her, I could tell she was his entire world. There wasn’t nothing he wouldn’t do for my sister, and that was why I felt comfortable with him.

I knew he would die before he allowed harm to come her way. Erin had never been big on dating, so seeing her in love and so submissive to Capone, it was like witnessing another woman. Erin always had to be in control, and now she allowed Capone to run things, while adding her two cents every once in a while.

“Yo, catch,” Capone said, and when I looked up there was a key fob coming my way.

I quickly grabbed it before it fell into my milk. “What’s this?”

“Go look in the garage and see…it’s a late birthday gift from me and your sister.” He winked, and I quickly got up from the table.

Erin smiled as she trailed behind me as I went into the garage. The new car that I thought was Capone’s car had happened to be for me.

A brand-new Dodge Challenger Hell Cat in olive green and red, sat next to Capone’s matte black challenger. I turned around and saw both Capone and Erin smirking, as she leaned into him.

  “Y’all playing with me, right?”

  “Nah, it’s all you.”

“What the fuck,” I mumbled as I circled around the car, too afraid to touch it. This car was a work of beauty, and I almost didn’t want to touch it.

“I know that I can’t hold you captive forever, and that we have that meeting at your new school. I want you to know that there will be ground rules, Jaiden,” Erin warned.

I was about to transition from online to an actual school for my senior year, and I wasn’t looking forward to it. If I had my way, I would be back at my old school and playing ball with my old coach and teammates. I was also tired of sitting around the house doing nothing, so attending school was my only hope to get back to living normally.

It was funny because I could hear Joie’s voice telling me to make the best out of the situation. She could always find the positive, even in the most negative situations. I missed her ass so much and wished I could call her and hear her tell me everything was going to be alright.
