"We're here princess," His majesty's voice pulls his fingers to get my attention. I pout at him. He quickly kisses me and pulls away. "If only you knew how much I missed your pout."

I looked down in embarrassment, knowing that Charles was looking at us. The whole ride I stayed silent and concentrated on the King because I was uncomfortable displaying much affection around an adult, and his majesty still managed to embarrass me in the end.

He laughs at my reaction and guides me out of our ride, and we make our way to the Castle. When we enter the Castle, many of the servants look at us in relief and joy as if the weight on their shoulders is finally over.

"What happened?" I whisper to him, and he just shrugs. I made a mental note to ask a servant about that later, maybe Marie. "Where are we going?"

He guides me to a route different from where he sleeps. Soon we were in the kitchen. The staff jumps in surprise when they notice him, and quickly bows down. A breath of relief also leaves them when they notice me by his side.

"Your majesty, how may we help you?" The head of the kitchen manages to speak. She was a skinny and fragile old woman, I was afraid she was going to tumble over with such a small frame.

"I would like to have the kitchen to myself." He demands with a small smile, looking at me rather than at them. Surprised by his words and actions, all the ladies hurry and leave.

"What are you doing?" I ask as he guides me to a seat.

"Cooking for you," He replies stalking over the sink and washing his hands.

  "You can cook?"

"Do you think that lowly of me?" He raises a brow, waiting for an answer.

"No, I just don't see how his Majesty would have time to learn how to cook with all his duties and you also have a whole staff to do those things."

"Mother taught me how to cook," He says, giving me a small smile. "But only breakfast foods because those are my favorite, and she was tired of me bothering the staff."

He gives a boyish smile, remembering the memories. "Even during lunch and dinner, I would ask for breakfast foods, especially pancakes. I am obsessed with sweets."

"His Majesty has a sweet tooth, who would've thought." I joke, thankful that he is sharing childhood memories with me.

"I told you, princess, don't call me that. You are more than a servant or person in my kingdom for me, we are the same." He stops what he is doing and stalks over me, looking at my eyes.

"You don't call me by my name," I argue back.

Not that I want you to.

"No one calls you princess, and no one calls me Ametheo so call me that."

"No, but I'll give you your own nickname instead," I say, sticking my tongue out. He bites it and pulls me into a deep kiss. I pull away.

"And what might that nickname be?" he smirks at my flushed reaction.

"Um," I think trying to find what best suits him. "Loverboy."

He looks at me stun and not moving. I was about to change my mind but before I could he gave out another laugh. "As long as it's not your majesty."

I give him a slight push. "Now make my food Loverboy, I am starving."

"Aye, Aye my Queen." He bows and turns around to prepare the pancake batter.

I tried to help him, but he scowled at me saying he wanted to treat me. After an hour of waiting for my food, and watching him move around the kitchen, becoming more and more attracted to him, he finally finished. A stack of pancakes in front of me and the same with him.

"You expect me to finish all that?" I say out loud looking at the giant stack of pancakes in front of him. Scrambled eggs on the side and a jar of syrup.

He nods, pouring syrup on his stack.

"Why do you get less than me?" I say, looking at his normal amount.

"You have been starving yourself and losing weight," He said, angling his fork toward me. "Taste it,"

I open my mouth and let him feed me. It took all of me to not moan. It tasted amazing. I close my mouth and savor the taste.

I hurry and start on my plate, ignoring the look he was giving me. He shakes his head at my action and goes to eat his food, pouring more sugar and syrup on top.

He really is obsessed with sweets.

"Why did you give me so much?" I complain, barely able to move. It was so good, he gave me seconds and I did not stop him. "I think my stomach hates me."

He walks over to me after finishing washing the dishes. I had offered to help but I was so full that I could barely move. He picks me up, bridal style, and walks out of the kitchen with me.

My face is buried on his chest. I ignore the looks and words from the staff passing by.

When we arrived in his room, he put me on his bed making sure I sat up.

"Stay sit up, so you won't get indigestion, I will be right back." He kisses my forehead and makes his way outside, talking to someone and then making his way to the bathroom.

After a few minutes, he comes back happy, refreshed, and with a new set of clothes. He goes back to the door, rolling in with a cart. It has a vase of water, and a bottle of alcohol accompanied with two glass cups.

"Water for you," He pours it out and gives it to me and makes another drink. "Whiskey for me."

"Why?" I ask, drinking the water and watching him sit across from me taking a shot.

"I promised to tell you everything and I am keeping that promise," He says, not even phased by the first shot and making himself a new one.

I nod in understanding. "Why don't you tell me about the Serenity situation first?"

He gives me a thankful smile and starts.

"I have to thank you for helping me find out the culprit princess," He starts, and I look at him questioningly. "You revealing how Serenity and Maxine avoided each other all the time gave me a hint, and Reyna's note confirmed it. Serenity and Maxine were hopelessly in love, and it is through Maxine I could break Serenity."

I give a small nod, urging him to go in.

"I apologize again for being so harsh towards you last night. It was my way of making sure Serenity knew you were going back to your room and that I stopped the investigation. It was too late to tell you the plan in advance."

  That makes more sense.

"Maxine waited for everyone to get drunk, giving them water and waiting on them. Afterward, she gave them chloroform to make them even more unalert. One of the guards that were watching secretly noticed that and summoned me. We caught Maxine planning to stab you."

I nod in shock, listening to all of his explanations. Everything makes more and more sense.

"The doctor came to check on you and besides alcohol and chlorophyll from the relaxing tea Marie gave you guys, nothing else was wrong. Then you left the following morning before I could even see you." Anger is clear in his eyes when he says the last part. I give him a sheepish smile, muttering an apology.

He smiles, forgiving me and downing another shot. "As for Serenity's reason, it actually connects to my past. Her older sister, Rarity, killed my parents and died in the fire. Her father, an evil man, poisoned their mind, she killed her father and came here to get revenge."

"I'm sorry that you had to go through that," I muttered, pulling myself towards him and giving him a big hug, playing with his hair. He doesn't hug me back but instead kept his hands on the alcoholic beverage.

I pulled back, hiding my disappointment and taking the drink from his hand and finishing his glass. "Let's take a break, I'm a bit tired from all the eating and the lack of sleep from the past few months. We can continue after a nap."

He nods and crawls next to me, pulling me into an embrace. I lay on his chest, hearing his soft heartbeat, and soon enough we both fell asleep. Exhausted from the events that occurred, and finally able to be in each other's arms without worrying about one another's safety.

We slept for a few hours, when I woke up, he was playing with my braids. I lay there not saying anything but just enjoying his presence, not wanting to push him back into his past. He, however, had other plans. He began to speak about his past, saying that he needs to talk about it, not just for me but for him also.

  Chapter 26

  Third Person’s P.O.V

People hurt us and we blame love- Zack Grey

In the Kingdom of Archelaos, three things are for certain. One the King and Queen love their subjects, Two the King and Queen love their only son more than anything, and Three the son loves the Kingdom so much that he rather lives in it rather than rule over the people.

Lucky for the son, the Queen is expecting, a new bundle of joy to come into the kingdom that will bring in more love and happiness to the people. It is said that every night the young prince, Ametheo, counts for the day his younger sibling will come hoping that they would rather rule.

In Ametheo heart, two things are for certain. One he loves his family and wants it to grow with his current love and two he will do anything for his kingdom, except rule.

Last year, on his thirteenth birthday he met Iris. It was not love at first sight, but rather infatuation. In the past year, they were each other's first everything. Over time, the friendship and intimacy grew, and they both decided too just be with each other. A marriage not out of love, but between two friends who enjoyed casual sex. At least that's how Ametheo saw it.

The King however had other plans. To strengthen the Kingdom, he gave his son a choice to marry another outsider. The daughter of the family that feuded with his family for decades. A marriage between the two firstborns will be a way of creating a treaty and leave things in the past. The young prince and Iris did not mind, she was attractive and could just settle with any of her other suitors, and if it meant protecting his kingdom Ametheo would do anything.

Like her name, the young girl was a rare jewel. Beautiful and captivating, Like any hormonal teenager, the prince was eager to learn more about her. The kingdom accepted Rarity with open arms, sticking to their belief that an outsider will always make the kingdom prosper.

For Rarity, only one thing was certain. She will burn the Kingdom to the ground and make her father proud.

Her plan to seduce the prince and marry him was not hard at first. But she saw his interactions with his so-called female "best friends". The prince was not ugly, so it did not surprise her that he would gain attention. What she hated was the fact that he denied it, denied her.

He claims that they were just friends, which she would have believed if it weren't for the way he and Iris looked at each other at every event. The way she was hopelessly in love, while he just smiled, oblivious of it all.

In the month of seeing that, Rarity admits to being okay with all the events that were occurring. The prince respected her and became friends with her. She forgot about her mission, she even starts to fall in love with him.

Everything seemed all right, until that night. The night that changed everything. The prince began to trust Rarity, more than he thought would have been possible.

They were in the garden, taking a walk and he confessed everything that she wanted to know. He reveals his past relationship with Iris, how nothing happened between him and his other childhood best friend Danielle, how he wants a big family, and how he doesn't want to rule and is thankful that his mother is expecting.

No one knows what truly set off the switch for Rarity. The fact that she will never become Queen or the fact that she would not be the prince's first like she assumed. He made a big deal of waiting for their wedding night, not wanting to take advantage of her, only to not be pure.

That night, Rarity planned to burn the kingdom to the ground. Her plan was simple, kill the queen and her child, and set a fire to cover up her crown. With the Queen dead, no more heirs will be produced, and she will become Queen.

That simple plan however was ruined by two factors. The Queen was in the King's office and the young prince interrupted everything.

Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it was the mental abuse from her father, no one knows for sure. But even when seeing both King and Queen in the study she did not rethink her plans.

"Aw Rarity, how may we help you?" The Queen asks seconds before noticing the materials in her hands. At the sight of the distressed girl, she signals her husband to look up and step back.

"Is everything okay, Rarity, where's Ametheo?" The King asks, stepping forward, guarding his wife but not really understanding the situation at hand.

Rarity shrugs, not really caring to answer the questions, and plunges the sword through the King's chest killing him in an instant.

The Queen's screams brought much attention. The young prince who was closest ran towards the noise, but it was too late. By the time she arrives at the study, the stench of blood fills his nose.

His mother kneeled over his dead father, mourning and cradling him not caring about the pool of blood coming out of her abdomen and chest. He freezes at the scene, hoping it was a dream. That his parents were not dying and that the person who did it is his fiancée and that she is not currently pouring gasoline, all over the room.

"Care to join us, my love?" She hums at Ametheo, a wicked smile on her face.

"Why?" His voice cracks, not understanding what is fully happening.

"I don't need to explain myself to you, just know, this is all your fault." She says giving a small air kiss and lighting the place on fire, slicing her neck and receiving a quick death.

The smile never left her face.

"Mama" The young prince croaks out in disbelief still not wanting to move out, praying that this really is a dream.

"Ametheo, get out now," The Queen screams out finally noticing his son. She screams for him to go and leave before he himself dies. She cannot lose her only son.

Tears fill the prince's eyes, finally running towards his mother. Wants to save her, even if this is a dream, he can still save her.

However, he is pulled back by a short man. His uncle. "Your majesty come with me,"

  "Charles, my parents."

He looks back at the room to his dead father and mother who is gently stroking her husband's hair, not caring about her own injuries. Trying her best to ignore the missing soul in her.

The Queen looks up at her son one last time, "I love you, Theo"

  One week after the betrayal

The young prince was taken to his friend, Iris, home to recover. That week, the halls were filled with his majesty's screams until they were no more.

His Majesty overheard his uncle talking to Iris's parents one night. His uncle took over, knowing that his Majesty did not want to rule.

"The enemies burned down Kuesia today, no survivors, we are at war." His uncle spoke of the tragedy that occurred to the tribe near the castle.

  "What will you do Charles?"

"What can I do? I will have to make a treaty with a different kingdom, hopefully, that King can choose to rule over..."

"No," The young prince finally spoke walking in, interrupting the men.

"As standing King, your Majesty, this is the best decision." Charles tries to argue.

"Who says you are King? I am the rightful heir, and you will listen to what I have to say. Archelaos will not be changing rulers." Ametheo inserts his dominance over the two men, leaving no room to argue.

Both men kneel, waiting for the next command.

King Ametheo knew one thing for certain, his love for Archelaos will never change and even if it means spilling his own blood, he will avenge his kingdom.

  5 years after the betrayal

For five years, King Ametheo went through intense training. He was never on the battlefield, always in the background, planning.

People never lost hope for their King, even if enemies declared him to be dead. Even if he severed every emotional connection, they knew in their heart that their King lives on.

"The night is here," His voice comes out, cold and with no emotions. "Is everything ready?"

His uncle, now advisor, nods at his words. The King planned a precise attack, tonight is the night he takes back his castle inhabited by the soldiers of his enemies.

He prepares himself, tonight is the night he gets his revenge. A replica of the sword that killed his parents by his side. He leads his troops to the Castle.

As planned, they stealthily enter the castle, quietly killing every soldier on sight. Freeing the workers loyal to the Castle, telling them to run for shelter.

"He's not here your majesty," One of his guards says to him.

"Burn this place to the ground." The King commands in anger. He takes one more look at his ruined Castle, nothing of his family remains.
